Carnet - A Free Open-source Note Taking App
Carnet is a free and open-source note-taking app developed by SpiSoft which is available for Android and Linux users. The app provides a complete editor that allows users to format their text with bold, italic, underline, color, and highlight. It also allows users to import notes from Google Keep (only on desktop, then sync on mobile), insert images, and open notes in HTML format. Carnet also allows users to organize their notes in folders and choose a root storage folder depending on their needs.
One of the best features of Carnet is that it doesn't track users or contain any ads. The app is protected with a pin code on Android, which doesn't encrypt notes. Carnet also offers statistics, such as the number of words, sentences, and characters used in the notes. The app also allows users to sync their notes with NextCloud and record audio. A dark theme and the option to change the note's background color are also available. The app also allows users to create to-do lists and set reminders.
Carnet is a powerful note-taking app that not only allows users to write their shopping list but also longer texts and stories. SpiSoft is planning to release many more features in the future, including performance improvements, a lighter version for Linux without Electron, and a Windows/Mac OS Electron app.
